FOSTERS NEEDED!

We still need foster homes for many dogs and pups that came from Georgia and Virginia last weekend!  Currently they are being boarded. Please let us know if you can help.  The pups need the love and socialization only a foster home can provide!!

BEST FRIENDS EVENT

Friday, April 27 from 11:00 – 3:00 is bath day at the kennel to prepare for the Best Friends event.  We want our dogs to look and smell their best for potential adopters – shiny coats, clean ears, trimmed nails.

Can’t foster a dog right now?  Volunteers desperately needed to:

• CARE for the dogs and pups at the kennel waiting for the Best Friends event next weekend -- any shifts welcome!
• BATHE dogs April 27^th  for the Best Friends event
• TRANSPORT dogs to and from the Best Friends event and regular adoption events at Petco and Petsmart
• PHOTOGRAPH pets for Petfinder

Up Coming Fundraising Events

JUNE 23, 2012 Jenn A. and Tina will be doing a small event in Branchville New Jersey at a carnival day! Please advertise it is at Bently it is a nursing home. They have done this event in the past with a rescue and it has been a huge success they asked us to come this year. Please spread the word entry cost is dog food or cleaning supplies or a cash donation to the rescue.

August 3rd-12th Jenn A., Dana, Chuck A. will be at the New Jersey State Fair aka Sussex County Farm and Horse Show in Augusta New Jersey. I did the fair last year for another cause it can be a long week because of the heat. We are looking for people to come for three hours to vol. at our tent to relieve the people that are there. If you are interested in helping on a day please send me an e-mail so I can get the day you would like to help. The cost is $5.00 but I need to know the exact day you will be attending.   NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED AT THIS EVENT. It is strictly a fundraising tent. We will have a power point presentation off all of our animals, I will need pictures of all dogs after best friends event. If your foster gets adopted it will be much easier to take out of power point then having to add so many last minute.

HAPPY TAILS

Adopted from our newest foster home…

I just wanted to update you on Maggie. She is the sweetest little puppy. She is going to the vets tomorrow. I have to say that she is the closest thing to a baby. She lays in my arms belly up all the time. She plays hard, and then sleeps in her little bed for about 2 hours and we begin again. I will bring in pictures of her on Monday. Our older dog, Molli, has learned how to stand like a cow and pretend she is giving milk to Maggie. The two of them cuddle up at night when Maggie decides to walk over to Molli's bed. Our other dog, Aubrey, is the dog Maggie is learning to play with. They play tug o'war, and Maggie chases her through the yard trying to keep up. I am getting my exercise at the same time. We are very happy with Maggie. The whole family loves her and she has become our lap dog. She has such a pleasant personality. Thanks for pulling on my heart strings daily by bringing in the puppies.

ST PAT’S DOGS

Of the many legends surrounding St. Patrick, the ones that resonate for us involves this most famous of Irishmen and dogs. Around 400 A.D. legend has it when he was sixteen, Patrick was captured by Irish marauders who enslaved him, he then endured six years as a half-naked shepherd with only a dog and some sheep for companionship. One day he had a dream that his favorite sheepdog, in the guise of an angel, told him to escape to a ship on the coast that was over 200 miles away—the ship from Gaul filled from stem-to-stern with Irish Wolfhounds. Making his way to the ship, the exhausted Patrick begged to come aboard but his pleas were refused—until someone noticed that he had a calming effect on the feisty Irish canine cargo. So they let him on in exchange for some dog caring and training. It didn’t take long after that for Patrick to come up with his first miracle. The ship had crashed upon the shore of northwest Gaul, the men and dogs soon were starving, having run out of food. The men, pagans all, turned to Patrick and taunted him to ask his Christian god for help. Patrick prayed all night, in the morning a herd of wild pigs magically appeared from the forest, and he quickly set the hounds on them. The now well-fed crewmembers were so impressed that they became Christian converts. After about twenty years spent on the continent, Patrick, who had made quite a name for himself there and became a priest, decided to come back to Ireland. But upon landing      on the Emerald shores he was met by Dichu, an Irish pagan prince, out hunting with his favorite hound. Dichu put his Wolfhound, Lauth on attack alert but when the dog lunged for Patrick, he uttered a few words and the dog went into an immediate down-stay and licked his outstretched hand. According to Irish folklore, this kindly saint repaid all his doggy pals by allowing the legendary Irish hero Oissain to take his hounds to heaven with him.

These six puppies are between 11 and 12 weeks old. There are 4 males and 2 females. They are very outgoing puppies.

Five Hound mix
These five pups are approx. 10 weeks old. There are 3 males and 2 females. They are very sweet, friendly puppies. The mother is a medium size hound or pointer mix, probably about 45 lbs.

Adult Dog Foster Homes Needed

We house MOST of the animals in our rescue in foster homes, however, sometimes there is not always a foster home who is able to take in a dog who's family just gave him up for no falt of his own. 

These dogs are currently being carefored at a kennel in Andover NJ. 

They have time where they get out and get walked and loved but they need more of it then any other dog. They have no family that they go home to after a week or so. They need to relearn how to live in a house, they a refresher of the commands that they have not practice, they need a foster home!

Some of the dogs in the Kennel have been there so long because nobody want to foster them. No body wants to give them a just 2-3 weeks of a time period in a house. Please if you would like to help email me at bahillman211@aol.com and put Kennel Dog in the subject line.

Yellow lab mix mommy gave birth to 8 pups yesterday.  The pic we have is fuzzy but shows 4 tiny black babies and beautiful mom.  Please let us know right away if you can help! Fostering a Mom and pups is wonderful! You get to watch the puppies grow very fast and for about the first 4-5 weeks the mom will take care of the pups for you!! It will be like just having one extra dog in the house for the first few weeks!! 

You can help give PNP a New Leash on Life

Currently our outstanding balance at Pompton Lakes Animal Hospital is $30,000.00.  While we have been able to pay it down significantly over the past few months, this is still a debt that is seriously impacting our ability to save more animals.  In the spirit of the season, Pompton Lakes Animal Hosipital has offered us a deal.  If we can pay half of the debt by the end of 2011, they will wipe the slate clean.  We need to generate $15,000.00 of donations in the next three weeks to start the New Year off at zero.  Let’s be as creative as possible in finding ways to get donations.  We can’t afford to miss this opportunity!

Hello Everyone!

Chica has been very busy the last few weeks caring for her 6 beautiful girls. The have been getting so big and will be ready for adoption before you know it! Each pup is starting to develop their own personality and markings.  The girls will be ready for adoption on Christmas Eve! (December 24th) They would love to find a home to spend their first Christmas in! IF you are interested Please feel free to apply online! The foster home is willing to make arrangements for APPROVED families ONLY to meet the pups before and bring them home on Christmas eve. Just think haven't you always wanted Santa to bring you a pup for Christmas? Or haven't you always wanted a pup for Chanukah?? Your wish can finally come true!! 

This is Fille (Girl in french) who is mainly black with a bit of white in her chest in the shape of an "n", along with brown on her front two paws. She certainly a mommy's girl! 

Next, Flicka (Girl in Swedish) She is Brindle
with a white under body.
She is starting to get some brown  on her paws
as well. She is very sweet and likes to be held.

Next, Fată. (Girl in Romanian) She is so sweet and I just love her face. She has a tiny strip of  white in between her eyes. She has a less spots then her other sisters on her front two legs. 

Next, Gal (another word for girl in the USA) She looks like her sister Fată, but doesn't have white in between her eyes. She is also a little bit more nervous then the rest of her siblings.

Next is Puella (girl in Latin) She is adorable. She have less white around her snout then her sisters, but has more  spots on her under-body and front two legs. 

Lastly we have Ragazza. (Girl in Italian) She is beginning to move so past it took me longest to get pictures of her.  She does look the most like her mom because of some redish tints she has in the light.  She also has almost a full white "collar" arond her neck. She has the most "freckles on her under-body.
